Our events give members the opportunity to get together at venues near them and share a drink, enjoy an activity and get to know each other. We organise two types of events: nights which are relaxed drinks in a bar and socials which involve a range of activities from themed food nights to photography classes.Become a member by registering for free or for more information on events, check out our FAQ section."Anyone who looks at all like Elvis - we all have to tick yes!" said the lovely Steph, who also offered the intuitive advice that "you can tell a lot about a man by his choice in childrens' TV programmes".In terms of the men, we had Mr Sporty, Mr Funny, Mr Tasty that you were looking forward to speaking to but turned out to be excessively dull, Mr Pretty-Damned Scary (he who must not be named) who was desperate to tell you about his stuffed budgerigar collection and penchant for toga parties (three minutes suddenly seemed like a very long time...), Mr I've-got-my-rehearsed-questions-and-I'm-not-afraid-to-use-them.Despite my preconceptions to the contrary, it seemed that the men were just as discerning in their tastes as the women - I estimated an average of three or four people that each dater ticked 'yes' to (of a possible 14).
Maybe the sociologists have got it right and three minutes is more than enough time to judge someone, but as I left after having just dismissed 12 guys, I couldn't help but wonder if some of them might have grown on me given more time...?There were a total of 50 matches between the daters who attended the event last Wednesday. Someone actually got 6 matches so they are going to be busy! You never know, you might meet someone really special. These dates are arranged in a variety of age groups and following on from the night you will have an opportunity to swap contact details with anyone you hit it off with, you are in complete control of who receives your personal details.
